FAQs

What’s the difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant?

A bookkeeper handles the day-to-day financial data and keeps records accurate and up to date.
An accountant usually reviews that data to provide tax advice, prepare year-end financial statements, and file tax returns.
Many businesses have both, the bookkeeper keeps things running smoothly, and the accountant handles compliance and strategy.

Do you work with my accountant?

Yes, we regularly collaborate with accountants to make sure your books are tidy and ready for end-of-year filing. Clear communication with your accountant helps save time and reduce costs.

What accounting software do you use?

We primarily use Xero, New Zealand’s leading cloud-based accounting software. We can also work with MYOB, QuickBooks, or others if needed.

How often do you update the books?

That depends on your business needs, weekly, fortnightly, or monthly are common options. Regular updates ensure reports and GST returns are accurate and on time

How do you charge for your services?

We offer hourly rates or fixed monthly packages, depending on your needs.
Hourly rates are ideal for one-off catch-ups or irregular work.
Monthly packages are great for regular support and predictable costs.

What do you need to get started?

To get started, we’ll need access to your Xero file, recent bank statements, and your GST or IRD details. We’ll go through everything together during onboarding.

Do you work remotely or on-site?

We mainly work remotely, but we’re happy to meet in person (Christchurch area or elsewhere by arrangement).
